I decided to buy a nice steak which turned out to be a ribeye steak and cook it to my taste yesterday. As I am living in the beautiful city Vilnius and the nearest market is the one named IKI, so I headed shopping as I usually do.
When I saw the nice packaging and the thickness of the ribeye steak I couldn’t think of eating something else for dinner.
What is a Ribeye Steak?
Ribeye steak is the boneless meat cut from the primal section of the ribs of the cow. It has a tender and fatty structure which makes it easy to eat and delicious.
Why is ‘Ribeye Steak’ expensive?
There are two main reasons that make the ribeye steak expensive.
The first one is that the amount of meat compared to other meat parts of the cow is relatively small. That makes the supply limited. š
The second one is that people like to eat yummy steak and tend to buy ribeye steak to satisfy their desires for a festive dinner. That makes the demand high. š
When the demand is high and the supply is limited the price goes up.
So let’s not be angry about the prices when we want to buy a ribeye steak and cannot afford it. I would suggest you keep on reading. I have something for you (or for us!).
How I cooked
I like to eat steak the most when it is medium done. To achieve this you should put the heat too high in your pan and expose each side of the steak for approximately 1 minute to high heat. After reducing heat to medium and keep cooking for 2-3 minutes for each side.
So this is exactly how I did. The result came out to be a medium-cooked, mouth-watering smelling steak.
How did the Ribeye steak taste?
Expectation
As you can imagine, after giving my daily income to this one portion of steak I wanted it to be the best steak I’ve ever eaten. While cooking the steak, the smell that filled my flat was supporting my expectations as well.
Reality
After the first piece which I threw into my mouth, I wanted to cry. If I wanted to chew rubber I would cut a piece from my car’s tire. IĀ cut one more and then one more hoping that each next piece will be the correct piece to enjoy. But no, the only difference was there were better chewable parts compared to unchewable parts.
Yes, I was a loser yesterday. I lost money, I lost a dinner and I lost my belief that all and any ribeye should be expensive and delicious. Maybe it would be better to eat some amazing eggplants instead of meat that day. You will agree with me after reading and watching my eggplant cooking story.
